From the Board of Directors

March 2019

Sweeter even than to have had the joy of children of my own has it been for me to help bring about a better state of things for mothers generally, so that their unborn little ones could not be willed away from them.  ~Susan B. Anthony

Dear Friends and Supporters,

Centro Tepeyac continues to thrive.

Last November we hosted our Annual Guadalupe Gala at the beautiful Pryzbyla Center at the Catholic University of America.  Lauren Ashburn from EWTN News Nightly was our Master of Ceremony and the evening was topped by a moving testimony from Centro Tepeyac client and new mother Rosliany who told her gripping story of how Tepeyac saved her life and the life of her baby. CLICK HERE TO READ FULL STORY  It is due to your support that the Center is able to serve beautiful women and babies like Rosilany and Emmanuel.  Thank you to all who attended and supported us at our 2018 Gala.  We look forward to seeing you again at this year’s Gala.  Stay tuned for date and location to be announced soon.

On October 30, 2018 the staff of Centro Tepeyac gathered with several Board members to “Christen” our Stork Bus with the name of Guadalupe in honor of Mariana Vera the Executive Director of Centro Tepeyac from 2011-2018 who made the purchase of this unit a reality and transformed the center into a medical clinic.  Thanks to the support of Fr. Dan Leary, pastor of St. Andrew’s Church and many loyal financial supporters, Centro Tepeyac can now reach many more women with this portable medical unit.  It was a bittersweet day as the staff said goodbye to Mariana as she moved to Frederick, Maryland to begin a new life focused on her family. We wish Mariana well in this new phase of her life.

We are currently interviewing for a new Executive Director.  If you know of anyone interested in this position, please have them contact Mary Hamm at and Daniel Smyth at to apply.  CLICK HERE FOR JOB DESCRIPTION

We said farewell to Elizabeth Ann Cashman Troy, a faithful volunteer and board member of Centro Tepeyac Silver Spring Women’s Center, who died peacefully with family present Tuesday, January 8, 2019.  Mary Hamm, current Board Vice President, fondly remembers how Liz and Mrs. Inez Ryan would drive with her to monthly Board Meetings at the Varnum Street North East DC location when Tepeyac was just beginning. She was amazing at organizing pro-life activities for Centro Tepeyac at Holy Cross Church—including the Family Bingo night!  The entire team and friends of Centro Tepeyac are grateful to Liz for all she did for us! May God richly bless her in her eternal reward. We extend our deep gratitude to Liz’s family and friends who donated over $2000 to Centro Tepeyac in her memory.

The center is collaborating with local churches and schools to hold baby bottle drives this Spring and Fall.  Proceeds will be used to help support women who come through the center with counseling and medical services  If your church, organization, mother’s group, homeschooling group, etc. is willing to sponsor a baby bottle drive for the benefit of Centro Tepeyac please reach out to Marie at to find out how easy and rewarding it is to do!

We are counting on your continued prayers and support in the coming year to help us accomplish our mission.
