WE NEED YOUR HELP:
The Montgomery County Council, at the apparent urging of Planned Parenthood and pro-abortion supporters, recently launched an attack on all county pregnancy resource centers aimed at discrediting the lifesaving work we are doing. The bill requiring a written disclosure sign in our waiting room announcing to potential participants that we are not a medical facility, do not have medical staff, and that they should proceed elsewhere for their pregnancy care, has passed by a 7 to 2 vote. Sadly, the presumption behind this legislation is that pro-life pregnancy resource centers lie and deceive women in spite of all evidence to the contrary. It is abundantly clear that this bill is politically motivated by those who take issue with the moral positions pregnancy resource centers take on abortion.
This bill is an unconstitutional viewpoint-based restriction on speech and our life-saving work. And it represents a first and treacherous step toward further regulations and efforts to formally and legally produce nothing short of a pro-death culture. Now, more than ever, we need your support!
Not only will our efforts to fight these threats continue but we will also redouble our efforts to become a medical clinic. While the desire has always been there, our immediate financial and staffing needs have trumped any new endeavors to becoming “medical”. Today, I am happy to report that our operations are running smoothly with a wonderful, qualified, and dedicated staff. So now, we are able to return our focus to creating the financial climate that would allow us to ultimately become a medical clinic.
