If you’re considering taking the abortion pill, it’s important to be aware of the potential risks. A new report states that women who use the abortion pill (also called chemical abortion) are much more likely to end up in the emergency room with serious medical issues compared to those who have regular abortions or give birth.
The report found that women who took the abortion pill had a much higher chance of experiencing severe or critical medical problems.
Between 2004 and 2015, the percentage of ER visits after taking the abortion pill surged from 50.3% to 75.7%.
The overall number of ER visits for women who took the abortion pill also rose dramatically, increasing by 2649.7% over those 11 years.
The report, titled “Emergency Room Utilization Following Chemical and Surgical Abortions, 2004-2015,” highlights the growing risk. According to the researchers, “persistently and significantly higher ER visit acuity following chemical abortion is clearly evident,” meaning the chances of ending up in the ER with a serious condition after taking the abortion pill are much higher than people say.
