Why It Matters
Many of our moms aren’t able to work during the final weeks of pregnancy or in the early years of their baby’s life. Childcare alone often costs more than they would earn.
But this season—while challenging—is also something sacred.
It’s a time for bonding, for nurturing, and for building that close connection that supports a baby’s development and successful breastfeeding. And it’s also a window of opportunity.
Our moms (and dads!) are incredibly hardworking. With the right support, this time can become a stepping stone—where they learn skills that open doors for future employment and stability.
What Your Support Makes Possible
When you sponsor a scholarship, you’re helping a mom gain skills she can use to support her family—on a flexible schedule that works for her season of life.
Scholarship Opportunities for Moms
Doula Training
Many of our moms are far from family and facing childbirth alone for the first time. Spanish-speaking doulas can offer comfort, guidance, and advocacy—and Maryland Medicaid covers these services.
Training cost: $850–$1,000
Give the gift of support during childbirth
Help train a doula who can walk alongside a mom when she needs it most.
Sewing Classes
A 12-week program where moms can learn or refine sewing skills—work they can do from home, on their own time.
Class: $500 | Sewing machine: $200
Equip a mom with a skill she can use from home
A simple investment can turn into long-term income for her family.
